New Hair + Beauty Haul

It's becoming a habit of mine to go to a coffee shop during my lunch breaks and doing homework. It kind of sets the atmosphere for me. And, that way a lot more is done which makes more time for relaxation at home. Speaking of relaxation, I will get none next week. Zip. Nada. They are making me work everyday next week. Which doesn't make me a very happy camper. Oh, well. More money in the pocket I suppose. Still doesn't make up for the fact that I'm going to be grumpy (I already am) and I'm exhausted just thinking about it.

In better news, I dyed my hair! Nothing too drastic. But, hey. It's black underneath. Black black. I love it. I used to have it like this in high school, and in order to curb my appetite for wanting a change (I was bound and determined to dye my whole head brown. I'm glad I didn't.) I did it again. I will have a picture soon. I just haven't gotten around to taking one that I actually like. I went to a new hair lady named Heather, who I really like! My old stylist told me to never dye my hair dark again because she's the one that did the bleaching process before my wedding, and it was torture for everyone involved. Sorry, Joan!

I have a little beauty haul for you guys. I have been wanting to try elf makeup forever now, and I finally got around to it. I used all the stuff I bought in order to give a review on each item. I also bought a Chi straightener. It's so cute, and it came with a little mini one! Plus, it was on sale, so I couldn't resist a good bargain. I've been itching for a new straightener anyway. I also went to Staples to pick up some supplies for a school project, and I saw this adorable notebook that I had to get. I have no idea what I'm going to use it for, but anyone who knows me knows how obsessed I am with notebooks. Among other random items.

Tinted Moisturizer in Ivory ($3); I used this in replacement of my foundation today. And, I have to say I actually really like it. I was skeptical because of course it wasn't going to be as full coverage. It's light, so it feels great on my face, and doesn't look cakey.

Lip Exfoliator ($3); This stuff is amazing. It seriously made my lips so soft. It's a lot easier than caking on a sugar scrub on your lips with your finger. It's just like lip stick, except a sugar scrub stick pretty much.

Moisturizing Lip Stick in Party in the Buff ($3); I am just now starting to play around with lip color. I don't know about this product quite yet. I had chapped lips before I put it on (should have tried the exfoliator first obviously) and so it didn't look good. At all. So it will be worth another shot.

Makeup Mist and Set ($3); Today is my first day using this, so I'm not sure yet how well it has worked. I do have to say though, it doesn't feel oily on my face or anything, so I like that.

3 in 1 Mascara ($3); It didn't do much for my lashes. I don't like it. End of story.

Blush in Candid Coral ($3); I'm not sure if I didn't just use much of the product, which could be the case because I was in a rush this morning, but I didn't find much pigment from this product. I will give it another shot because the color is pretty.

Well that's all! The other makeup item is a pressed powder from Revlon that I like.

What is your favorite elf product? Your least favorite?

Life Lately

Anybody that knows me, knows how much I'm obsessed with leopard print. I saw these shoes online, and I immediately fell in love with them. Tom and I went to the mall, and went to the Vans store to see if they had them. Well, obviously they did. I have huge feet too, so it was a miracle that they had my size in store.
On an even better note, my mom is an out-patient now. She gets to be home and just goes to the hospital to do chemo. This is such a huge silver lining for my family.
Drake, though. Drake, Drake, Drake. I don't know if the terrible twos applies to dogs too, but in my case it would be the wretched one. He's driving me absolutely crazy. He has been not only a complete spaz lately, but is always in to everything. We can't even leave butter on the counter without him jumping up on the counter and eating it. And forget about setting your plate down on the coffee table for three seconds because that juicy steak will be covered in dog slobber in about 3.5 seconds. I don't know what his deal is lately, because it's almost like he's a complete different dog. To the point where he even plays with other dogs at the dog park. You guys, that never ever happens. Ever. He hates other dogs. Yet he played with a cute little pit bull the other day. I'm wanting him to stay that way, where he is social with other dogs, but not so much the terrible manners.
How's your life been lately?

Ipsy Bag Review: February '14

My first Ipsy Bag arrived the other day! I am so excited to be getting these each month (I wish I got one every week!) and be able to do a monthly review on them. With that being said, let's get started!
If you don't know what an Ipsy Bag is, you should go to their website here and take a look around. Basically you get five products in a cute little bag each month, with a different theme. It's $10 a month, and totally worth it. In fact the value of the bag is usually four times what you're actually paying. I totally recommend this as a little gift to yourself each month!
This month's theme is The Look of Love. Inside the pink bag (with leopard print on the inside, which I freaked. I am obsessed with leopard print) was:

J.Cat Beauty Eyelashes + Eyelash Glue; I like fake eye lashes for fancier events, so I wasn't thrilled about getting these, but I also wasn't upset. They are made from 100% human hair, which I think is cool and also equally creepy! But, I'm excited to give these a try sometime soon.

Pop Beauty Lip Gloss in Peony Petal; I am super excited about this product! I absolutely never wear any color on my lips, but I've recently been wanting to experiment with it. I love this stuff. It's not sticky, and it's soft, and greatly pigmented. I could rave about this stuff, seriously. (Tom loves it too, he can't stop staring at me!)

First Aid Beauty (FAB) Deep Cleanser; I love trying out skin stuff and so I was excited to try this stuff out. It left my skin feeling clean and soft! My skin is really sensitive, and gets dry really easy, so I have to be careful sometimes. This stuff, didn't make my skin feel tight and dry at all, but rather perfectly hydrated.

Eyetini Shadow Tint in Ambrosia; Not gonna lie, I was really weary about this product, and it kind of confused me at first. It looks like a lip gloss tube, and even has a lip gloss type applicator. So, I did a swatch on my hand, and this stuff is so cool! It is a shadow, on a stick. The color is so smooth looking and nice! I will be trying this stuff for real tomorrow!

Zoya Nail Polish in Odette; I get my nails done, so like the eyelashes, I wasn't super excited about this product, but I do paint my toenails! This color is similar to the eye shadow tint, a faint plum purple is how I would explain it. It seems like it would be a great spring color!

Overall, I am very pleased with my first bag, and I can't wait to get my next one already.

Do you have a subscription to Ipsy? If so, what did you get in your February Ipsy Glam Bag?

Happy Valentine's Day!

Tom and I celebrated Valentine's Day by first visiting my mom in the hospital and taking her a card and a stuffed tiger. Then we went out went to sushi at Yoitomo downtown. It was fabulous. We had plans to go to a movie, but we're old and wanted to go to bed instead. It was a perfect night, Tom and I shared lots of laughs and love. And, of course I got my red roses.

How did you spend Valentine's Day?

I am so in love with my friend Jessa's baby, Christopher Scott. And, I'm so excited because next Wednesday they are having me do his newborn pictures! I'm so excited to take them. They let me do their engagement pictures, and I thought they turned out rather well. To be able to do their little bundle of joy has me so excited. I seriously love this baby though. He's so sweet, incredibly gorgeous, and such a good baby. He makes the funniest faces. It's safe to say, I'm having some huge baby fever. Oops.

Meet My Kids

I have three kids. All with four legs. Two with fur, one with scales. And, they are great. My husband and I love our animals. They all have different personalities, and they are beyond spoiled. We take our kids very seriously in the Hampton House.

Drake

This is our first baby. We got him when he was only four weeks old, was a tiny little munchkin and beyond adorable. He was the biggest of his litter, and now he's a skinny little thing. He is a German Shorthair Lab mix, but he definitely has all the qualities of a shorthair. Which is why he can be skinny while also being extremely healthy. He was born on 12/13/12. He's a hilarious dog. He has so much personality. He's very protective, yet very shy. He isn't comfortable around people and will bark out of fear, but once you're around him for some time he'll warm up to you. He's the same way with other dogs. It's something we've been working on! He is extremely active. He will play fetch with you for hours. Drake loves to sleep on the bed and be kissed goodnight. He is such a fast learner and is wiling to do whatever to please us. He's the oldest baby of the family.

Sarge

Our second baby. We got him when he was around 3 months old. He's a German Shepherd Border Collie mix. He was born 1/14/13. His markings are incredibly beautiful. He's definitely a gorgeous dog. He's also very devious. He's a sneaky dog, but then proceeds to pretend he didn't do anything wrong. It's actually kind of hilarious. Sarge is very sweet, he is constantly smiling. He LOVES going to the dog park and playing with other dogs. With that said, he's our social butterfly. He gets along with people and dogs. He's very smart, but you have to mix things up with him or else he will get bored and get into trouble! Sarge isn't much into playing fetch. In fact he'll chase after it, and then ignore it. His playing is mostly wrestling with Drake.

Cosmo
Cosmo is our third baby. He is a leatherback Bearded Dragon. I was never really a reptile person until I started working at Zamzows, but now, I'm very into them. This little guy stole my heart the minute I picked him up and he fell asleep on my hand. He's a funny guy. Cosmo love strawberries, crickets, mealworms, and spinach. He is very curious, he likes to explore, but also likes to sleep on my shoulder. He loves baths, and being petted. Anything that moves, he tries to eat it. He constantly licks anything he's on. He is roughly a year old.

The C Word

Source

The C Word. Cancer. When you hear it, your heart automatically sinks to the floor and an overwhelming wave of sadness overcomes you. It home with my family recently. Friday, January 31, 2014 my mom was diagnosed with Leukemia. The last couple days have been an emotional rollercoaster, and will continue to be until she's cancer free. We have a huge and wonderful support group who are doing their best to keep us all in positive thoughts and mind sets. As the days go on and we find more out about her diagnosis, I'm feeling stronger and more optimistic for the future. This is just a little bump in the road. Unfortunately, it's a tough one. I never thought something like this would affect my family. But, it can happen to anyone.
It's especially stressful for my family because my step-dad, Roger, works out of town. He works in Nevada. So he's not normally around, but now has to be. Which raises the question, "how are we supposed to afford this when nobody is working?" It's something that we are struggling with. God is good though, and if there is a will there is a way. On top of that, my mom has to spend at least the next six weeks in the hospital. She can't go home. She can't leave her floor. She can't enjoy the sunshine. She can't see her dogs, or her horses, she can't have flowers, and she has a limited diet. With that being said, Roger wants to spend as much time with her at the hospital as he can to be her rock. So, we're trying to figure out a way for Tom and I to take care of their house and animals while they're away, while also carrying on our lives and taking care of our animals. It's going to be a crazy journey, but as long as my amazing mother makes it out alive, it will be worth it.
The C word we all need to focus on is cure.
If it's not too much to ask, I would be so grateful if you could keep my family in your thoughts and prayers.

Do you know anyone with Leukemia or another type of cancer? How do you keep them in high spirits in times like this?

I will be posting more updates on my mother's progress and our family's journey as we go on.
