Getting Rid of Cradle Cap

A few weeks after Hunter was born he started to develop cradle cap pretty bad. I originally thought it was acne, but there are some different characteristics between acne and cradle cap. Cradle cap is red and bumpy, usually dry feeling, close together, and will get a white or yellow crusty top over it.

For Hunter it's been a constant battle for us to get it under control. I've found a way to get rid of it within a few days, and a way to maintain it after its gone. Children can get cradle cap for up to a year after they're born! Hunter's problem area has been between the eyes and in his eyebrows. This is a pretty common area along with on top of the head.

While trying to get the cradle cap under control, each morning you'll need to grab a baby wash cloth and some baby shampoo. Get some warm water on the cloth and wet the area. Add a little baby shampoo to the cloth and gently scrub any of the crusty top away. Rinse your cloth off and wipe off any left over baby shampoo and dry the area. Here is the secret step that is the most important! Apply cocoanut oil to the area. At night apply cocoanut oil again to the area, and then the next day repeat the whole routine again. Do this until the skin is clear. To maintain the cradle cap from coming back just apply the oil once a day. If it comes back, (which it surely can!) repeat the regime again.

My method has proved to work multiple times for my little guy, and I hope it will work for yours!
